Mounds Dog Fest 2018
Every day is dog day at Mounds
Mounds Dog Fest 2018 is Sunday, June 10, from 10 AM to 3 PM, at Angell Park Speedway. Admission and parking are free. Dog Fest 2018 will highlight over 30 pet product vendors, and over 40 animal rescue groups, animal shelters, and pet-friendly businesses. Demonstrations include Pier Pups (Dock Jumping), Ruff Position Flyball Team, and a Madison Police K9 presentation. Paws-on activities like Radar Run, Flyball, Agility, and photos in a squad car with Capital K9s. Contests for Best Catch, Fashion Show, Crazy Canines, Twinning, and Most Talented Pooch.
Angel’s Wish will microchip all day at Mounds Dog Fest. For $20, they will implant a microchip in your pet, register your information with 24PetWatch, and provide a collar tag with the microchip number and toll-free number to call should your pet become lost. If you want to improve your pet’s chances of getting home fast and safe in case it goes missing, microchipping is your best option.
Ruff Position Flyball Team will demonstrate the sport of flyball. Flyball races match two teams of four dogs each, racing side-by-side over a 51-foot long course. Each dog must run in relay fashion down the jumps, trigger a flyball box, releasing the ball, retrieve the ball, and return over the jumps.
Radar Run lets you test your dog’s running speed with radar provided by the Dane County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit. How fast is your dog?
Canine Dock Jumping uses a 40′ x 16′ pool and 40′ x 8′ dock. Dock jumping is fun to watch, but you can also register your dog to participate on the Pier Pups website (http://www.pierpups.com/mounds). Pier Pups recommends getting to the event well before your scheduled competition time. It gives you and your dog a chance to relax and become comfortable with the new surroundings, the excited energy of barking dogs, and the pull of the water.
