Mounds Pet Food Warehouse Raises $22,500 to Vest Local K9 Officers

During the month of July, Mounds helped raise money for Vest-a-Dog; a local organization that provides bullet and stab proof vests for K9 officers in Wisconsin.

Over a dozen K9 Officers are killed each year.  Most were shot or stabbed by the suspects they were attempting to apprehend.  Sadly, many law enforcement agencies and police departments do not have the funds to purchase body armor that can save the lives of their police dogs.  The cost of each vest is around $850 to $1200, depending on which vest best suits each dog.

Every July Mounds donates $0.50 per 35 lb. bag of Mounds Dog Power sold to help purchase safety vests for local police K-9’s through Wisconsin Vest-a-Dog.   This year, Mounds decided to also sell WI Vest-a-Dog plush toys and allow customers to round-up their purchase and donate right at the register.

Wisconsin Vest-a-Dog was looking to raise enough to purchase vests for Police K9’s Drea and Ritter, but thanks to our customer’s gracious donations, Mounds was able to raise $22,500 instead!

This amount exceeded everyone’s expectations, and will allow WI Vest-a-Dog to also donate a heat sensor system to the Fitchburg police department, as well as provide K9 first aid kits to police K9 Units in Wisconsin.

We presented the check to Vest-a-Dog today at Mounds in Sun Prairie!!
