Warm Fuzzy Salute

Mounds Warm Fuzzy Green Acres Boxer Rescue of WI was founded in 1999 and yes, it was named after the TV show! The rescue (motto: “Add a Little Character to Your Life!”) serves the state of Wisconsin as well as the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. To date, nearly 800 Boxers have passed through GABR. About half the dogs come from shelters and the other half are surrendered directly by owners. Common reasons for surrender include: new baby, moving, allergies, and personal issues such as foreclosure and divorce.

Since the rescue’s inception, GABR’s volunteers have remained firmly committed to helping Boxers in need, regardless of a dog’s age or medical status. You’ll almost always find several grey faces on the rescue’s website. While in the GABR’s care, each dog lives in a loving foster home. Each dog receives a thorough temperament assessment and all needed veterinary care including: spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip, and heartworm/fecal testing.
GABR participates in many pet expos and other events throughout the year and hosts The Boxer Bash, our annual major fundraiser. The Boxer Bash, held each September, features contests, silent auction, lure course, food, the most awesome bake sale anyone has ever seen, and kids’ games. The 2012 Boxer Bash will be held in Columbus, WI on September 22nd.
