Charles (Chuck) Morkri, the “voice” of Mounds
Chuck received his degree in Communicaton Arts (Radio & TV) from the University of Wisconsin. His first radio job was in Richland Center where he worked with WRCO AM/FM for ten years before coming to Madison. He accepted a position with WKOW Radio and TV where he hosted the popular “Wisconsin Road Show” and was also part of the 6 and 10 PM news team for two years doing the weathercasts. He remained with Mid-Contintent Broadcasting and at WKOW Radio after the television station was sold and the call letters of WKOW became WTSO. He became the Program Director and later, during his tenure at WTSO, he formatted the station to a modern country format and the station became a national leader in country music. It was also during this period that the Company acquired and structured a very highly successful FM station, WZEE (Z104) and Chuck became the Operations Director over both stations. It was during his career in radio that he became acquainted with and developed a working relationship with Ken Mack, the founder of Mounds, handling the Mounds Agri Service radio advertising. After leaving the broadcast industry, Chuck became the “voice” and on-camera spokesperson of Mounds Pet Food, working with TMG Media. “I truly am honored to be the “voice” of Mounds”, says Chuck, “the present management has maintained Ken Mack’s principle of outstanding customer service and superior products. What stands out in shopping at Mounds is the knowledge that staff members have of all animals and animal products and the fact that this is a local enterprise, not some national chain”.
Chuck and his wife, Barb, have six children and are extremely proud of their six grandchildren.
And, as Chuck says, “…….and don’t forget your free Mounds Candy Baaaar”.
